"ONS - more important than ever"
RENAS is the country's leading company for electronic waste recycling – the fastest growing waste pile in the world. RENAS participated for the first time with a booth at ONS in 2022.
"I believe ONS is more important than before due to the energy transition. At ONS, companies share knowledge with each other, while also serving as a wake-up call to see how far competitors have progressed," said Eyrún Gudjonsdóttir, Head of Business Development at RENAS.

"To succeed, it's important for all industries to participate, especially the oil and gas sector. However, they might be excluded from certain discussions," she points out.
To achieve climate goals, we must all think more circularly. This means giving products a longer lifespan. And when they cease to function, their raw materials must be recycled. Critical raw materials, such as platinum, iridium, cobalt, manganese, and lithium, are particularly important.
"These are only found in limited quantities on this earth. As we transition from oil and gas to electrification and increased battery usage, we are entirely dependent on them," emphasizes Gudjonsdóttir.
RENAS participated for the first time with a booth at ONS in 2022. Gudjonsdóttir admits she was a bit skeptical due to the "oil fair" label.
"However, we were pleasantly surprised. We saw that most companies care about sustainability. Many had also heard about the circular economy but might not have known what it means in practice. We could explain that the circular economy is the foundation for succeeding in sustainability."
Now she looks forward to this year's ONS and to getting even more people in the energy industry to embrace a circular mindset.
"Together, we achieve more than each of us alone!"
The RENAS stand at ONS in 2022 was a hit to the crowds, sporting shows with breakdancers and a stand made completely out of repurposed materials. This August you can find RENAS at booth 9140 in Hall 9.
