Five new members on ONS International Advisory Board

The ONS International Advisory Board plays an important part in our efforts to stay relevant and strengthen ONS’ position as a global energy forum. Now five new members have joined the board: Dr. Amani Abou-Zeid, Viviana Coelho, Arancha Gonzales, Carlos Pascual and Tatsuya Terazawa.

The International Advisory Board consists of selected, high-level industry representatives with in-depth knowledge of the energy industry, technological developments, policy initiatives and international markets.

The ONS International Advisory Board discusses and shares international perspectives and views on global energy trends to secure a relevant and timely ONS programme reflecting all key stakeholders and parts of the world. They also advise ONS on international issues, crossroads and decisions related to strategic directions.

The new members

Dr Amani Abou-Zeid from Egypt is the former African Union Commissioner in charge of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalisation.

For more than 35 years, she has served in leadership positions in international organisations, such as the African Development Bank, UNDP and USAID, with a focus on infrastructure and energy programmes.

Over her career, she has amassed a remarkable mix of strategic and operational professional experience and achievements across Africa, France, UK and Canada and across constituencies with wide array of stakeholders.

Dr Abou-Zeid has received numerous international awards and recognitions for her leadership and excellence, often been named as one of Africa's most influential women.  

Viviana Coelho

Viviana Coelho from Brazil is currently climate change and decarbonization executive manager at Petrobras, member of the Executive Committee of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative.

In Petrobras, she has held various functions in Petrobras’ downstream and R&D, including general manager for Innovation in Gas, Energy and Sustainable Development. Prior to Petrobras, she worked as a consultant on projects for multinationals from different segments in several countries.




Arancha Gonzáles from Spain
is the Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po in France.

Ms. González was Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain (2020-July 2021). She served as United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of the International Trade Centre, the joint trade development agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation (2013 to 2019).

Between 2005 and 2013 Ms. González was Chief of Staff to World Trade Organization Director-General Pascal Lamy and his representative (Sherpa) at the G-20. Prior to that Ms. González held several positions at the European Commission in the area of external relations.


Carlos Pascual from Mexico leads the integration of geopolitics, energy, climate change and markets for S&P Global Commodity Insights.

Carlos Pascual

He works with clients globally on the geopolitical challenges and opportunities that drive energy security, sustainability and affordability. Mr. Pascual also leads S&P Global Commodity Insights businesses in Latin America and was previously US Ambassador to both Mexico and Ukraine and was Special Assistant to the US president for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia on the National Security Council.

As the former US Energy Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the State Department, Mr. Pascual established and directed the Energy Resources Bureau and served as the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State on energy issues.

Earlier, Mr. Pascual created the position of Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization in the State Department, establishing the first civilian response capacity to conflicts.


Tatsuya Terazawa from Japan
is the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Energy Economics in Japan (IEEJ), one of the leading energies think tanks in the world.

IEEJ presents pathways to achieve carbon neutrality as well as to recommend measures to enhance energy security for governments and industries.

Before joining IEEJ, he supported the Japanese Government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the formulation of the Growth Strategy including the Japanese “Green New Deal” and the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake. He also played a crucial role in the coordination for the 2019 G20 Osaka Summit.
